If you are looking for spectacular, high-quality writing for your kids, Wanda the Weary Witch by Pauline Tait needs to be at the top of your list. Her sheer storytelling genius and creative, imaginative prose proves she belongs right alongside beloved giants like Julia Donaldson.
 

Wanda is definitely not your average witch...she is better! Wonderfully flawed, hilariously original, and comically clumsy, she is exactly the kind of relatable character children will utterly adore. As a result, this heartwarming story trades perfect spells for unpredictable mishaps and laugh-out-loud comedy.

 

As a homeschooling parent, this is exactly the type of book I want lining my bookshelves! It perfectly strikes that rare balance of being incredibly entertaining to read on repeat while introducing children to top-tier writing. The text is honestly a teacher’s dream, showcasing a brilliant use of alliteration, onomatopoeia, adjectives, and adverbs. The illustrations are equally brilliant, boasting an incredible level of detail on every single page. Children will love immersing themselves in Wanda’s world and spotting the clever little quirks tucked into the artwork. From the hidden spiders dotted around to her mismatched socks, the visual storytelling adds a delightful layer of fun.
 

While children will be laughing at the chaos, parents will secretly love the hidden agenda. The narrative does a fantastic job of highlighting why staying organised and putting in effort matters, naturally discouraging lazy habits. As an added bonus, Wanda's magical mishaps might just motivate your little ones to finally tackle their own messy bedrooms!
 

Overall, I just can't recommend this magical book enough - at this point, I'm convinced this author is incapable of writing anything less than a masterpiece!
